Prohibition
Prohibition was a period of nearly fourteen years of U.S. history in which the manufacture, sale, and transportation of alcohol was made illegal. With the high demand for liquor gangsters took advantage of the opportunity to sell it to make a profit. Illegal places where people could drink were opened and liquor was sold illegally. All of this made the law hard to enforce because of the increase in crime causing congress to end the law in 1933
